Attica – Mary Catherine Hagel, 85 of 413 E. Washington St, Attica, died at 10:23 p.m. Monday in Community Hospital, Williamsport. She was hospitalized Monday following a heart attack at her home. Born in Attica March 21, 1900 she was a lifelong resident of Attica. A graduate of Attica HS, she received her bachelor’s of science at ISU. She attend Purdue, Illinois State Normal University, Normal, Ill. Miss Hager (sic) taught school 44 years in Attica, Newtown< Logan Township and the surround areas. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church; Fountain-Warren Retired Teachers; and Indiana Retired Teachers Association. No immediate survivors.

Mrs. Julius A. Hagel, 79, sister-in-law of Mary Catherine Hagel of Attica, died Jan. 8 in Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce, Fla.  She had been ill several months.    She was born in Athens, Ga., and was a graduate of the University of Georgia.  She was state librarian in Raleigh, N. C., before her marriage in 1946 to Frank F. Hagel.  He died in 1981.   She moved to Florida 40 years ago and was employed as librarian in St. Lucie County School System in Fort Pierce.   Memorial service will be planned at a later date.  Maus Funeral Home, Attica, will be in charge.
